R&D in the FY 2006 Department of Energy Appropriation
The Department of Energy (DOE) received a total of $8.6 billion for R&D-related activities in the FY 2006 Energy and Water Appropriation bill (H.R. 2419), a slight reduction under the FY 2005 enacted level. The funding for the DOE's Office of Science budget was cut to $3.3 billion, or 0.4%, as a result of the across-the-board spending cut. Energy-related R&D programs received a total increase of 9.6% to $1.3 billion, but programs in some areas of energy such as hydrogen and fuel cells would be reduced.
